This group of biker-evangelists calls itself Apostles. They are members of the Canadian Association: “Run for The Sun” which is part of the union of Biker-Apostles. We became unique witnesses of their visit to a church in Canada.
The association's tasks include distribution of Bibles and carrying out evangelization all over the country. Also there are groups which are involved in women's ministry, visiting prisoners and hospital patients, giving prayer support; also, music ministry and many other endeavors.
In the message of Ephesians, it says: «And he gave some apostles and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers. »
It may be an unusual exterior for apostles, probably breaks some stereotypes. They don't look like apostles; don't dress in an apostolic Hebrew tunic. But notice, this group of older bikers does not differ from folks around us, as well as the original apostles did not differ from their environment in their time. The head of this group, Bruce Ivanishin, was born in Canada, but has Russian roots. He preached at the service today. It should be noted, Bruce is also a police officer.
The most senior member of this group, the biker that became the evangelist, is seventy eight years old. His name is Jene. He cannot ride a motorcycle any more, but his keen interest is still with him. Therefore Jene goes on these journeys as the passenger. This biker-man of the sixties, now serves God in a new way, visiting churches and encouraging people to believe God's Word.
Now, probably it is a high time to recollect Martin Luther's saying: "Crispin making footwear for the Pope is bringing glory to God, as well as the Pope praying for Crispin."
