How to Make New York Cheesecake

Every spoon leaves you craving for more. That is how perfectly delicious a cheesecake can taste. The tangy taste of the cake mixed with the flakiness of tart-like base is what makes this dessert you cannot say no to. So if you’re in the mood to bake we are here to help you indulge in the process of creating a perfectly baked New York Style cheesecake. Here are Steps To Make New York Cheesecake.

Set your ingredients

Before you start with the process of baking it is quite integral to first prepare the ingredients that you are required to use for baking a homemade New York Style cheesecake. Some of the ingredients that you are required to get are given here in the list below:



  • 1-1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs, from 12 whole crackers

  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt


  • 32 oz (four 8-oz blocks) cream cheese, at room temperature

  • 2 cups of sugar

  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 4 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon packed lemon zest, from 1 lemon

  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice, from 1 lemon

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 6 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • Special equipment: 9- or 10-inch springform pan; 18-inch heavy-duty aluminium foil

  • Berry sauce, for serving (optional)


The flaky crust of the cheesecake is what makes this dessert a real treat, so here’s the procedure on how you can make the crust of a cheesecake. Take about 120gms of Graham Crackers and crush them till they turn into crumbs. Add about 60 grams of melted butter to the crumbs and mix them well until they become moist yet flaky.

Mixing the creams

Once you are done preparing the base, it is time to prepare the filling, for this takes about 400 grams of cream cheese in a bowl and add 120 grams of granulated sugar to it. Mix them well and then add 200 grams of sour creams to the mixture along with 150 ml of heavy cream.


The main aim of baking a New York Cheesecake is to achieve the amount of fluffiness and creaminess of the filling. Take the batter of the filling you created and crack 2 eggs. Add them to your mixture and whisk until it has been properly mixed. After which add 2 tablespoons of corn starch along with 1.5 tablespoons of Vanilla extract, if you don’t wish to add eggs, worry not for you can replace the eggs with milkmaid.


The tangy flavour present in each bite of cheesecake is what adds the twist of taste that this dessert actually requires. To do that take about 1/4th of a lemon and squeeze out the juice. Add it to your batter to give it that perfect tangy twist.

Set it

After your batter and crust are prepared, you are now all set to bake your little masterpiece in the oven. Take a springform pan and press down your crust on the lower level of the pan, after which cover the sides of the pan with butter paper and add your batter. After adding the mixture, smooth it out with the help of a spoon and by tapping the sides.

Time to bake

Well, your cheesecake is now ready to be baked, for that you need to set the oven at 180° Celsius and let it bake for about 30 mins. Here’s a little tip, cover the sides of your pan with a tin foil and place it on a tray within the oven. Add hot water to the tray until it fills up and then let it bake. After 30 minutes reduce the temperature to 150° Celsius and let it bake for another half an hour.

Cool it

Your cake is now done! In order to let it cool, leave it in the oven for an hour so that it is nicely set so that you need not worry about it being sloppy. After which take it out and place it in your refrigerator and let it stay there for about 6 hours. I know this may seem like a bit too long but trust me the end result will be worth it.


Once you are done making your cake, it is now time to prepare the syrup you will be serving your cheesecake with. Take about 200 grams of fresh berries of your choice, I prefer either Raspberry or strawberry and let it freeze for about an hour. Take it out and place them on a heated pan and add about 40 grams of sugar to it. Add one tablespoon of water and stir it well for about 15 mins. Your syrup is now ready.

 Jamming it up

Once your syrup is ready, it is time to give it that jam consistency. In order to do that, take your syrup and strain it into a bowl. Then add about 1 tablespoon of unflavored gelatin to give it that sticky thick texture that you were in search of.

Take out your cheesecake from the refrigerator and cut out a nice piece gently for yourself, after all this is the reward you deserve after the hard work you put into it. Add your delicious fruity syrup on top of your cheesecake and there you have it, a mouth-watering New York-style cheesecake all ready for you to dig in.
