Chapter 1

The Missing Ingredient

“The Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken” Proverbs 3:26

Do you see results every time you pray? Does your faith always produce that for which you’re believing in and confessing? Are you seeing the full manifestation of God’s promises of healing, provision and deliverance in your daily life?

If you’re like most believers, the answer to those questions is a frustrated, “no”. For example Christians, prayer is more dice a roll of the dice on a monopoly than an exercise of faith. Instead of “Ooooh, give me seven… it’s “Ooooh, Lord! Let is work, Jesus! Please God do something about my situation!”

Other times we resort to a “bargaining” in an attempt to get Him to move on our behalf. “I’ll love you forever Lord. I’ll tithe 15%!….20%!…. just help me, Lord!”

Perhaps you’ve even resorted to a “fleece in an attempt to gain some assurance that God was going to meet your needs.” Lord, if you’re really in this, have someone come up to me today and say the word “igloo”. Then I’ll really know it’s you.”

You probably recognized yourself yourself in one or more of the examples. I think we’ve all been there at one time or another in our Christain lives. I don’t need to tell all that straining and striving to get God to move on your behalf can be baffling and disheartening experience. Well, I’ve got news for you. Not only does that kind of prayer not work very well, it totally unnecessary!

God never intended His children to beg, plead and bargain for His promises to be fulfilled in their lives. His earnest desire is that you experience the full manifestation of every promise in his word. That means total provision, prosperity, absolute health, well-being and deliverance from all oppression.

Then why aren’t the most Christians, in spite of all their confessing, believing and “claiming,” experiencing that kind of life? Why are we still bombarding heaven with “monopoly roll the rice” prayers and “let’s make a deal” petitions?” The answer is profoundly simple.

Each of the methods of praying mentioned above has common missing elements. They lack the one key component that will energize your faith and revolutionize your prayer life. That the missing ingredient is confidence.

What is Confidence?

Once you start looking for it, you’ll be amazed how often the word confidence appears in the scripture. When the Bible uses the word confidence it means” assurance” or complete and total “persuasion”. It also closely parallels the meaning of “trust”. When you trust something, you have confidence in it.

When it rains, I open my umbrella, confident that it will keep the rain off. I trust it to keep me dry.

Confidence is the quality which leads you to stand up under or endurance adversity. It causes you to undertake a difficult task with diligence.  You see like Jonah, he was asked to go to Nineveh, but he did not listen, he looked at the task and thought that would be to difficult, but he had to encounter being swollen up by the whale in order for him to diligently finish his task. Just like Jonah you’ll never take a firm standing for something without confidence.

Another term closely identified with confidence is “boldness”. If you look at Jeremiah for example, he was very little could not speak properly and didn’t have much words, he did not have boldness at first, he thought that he was too small. God then put words into his mouth and he was able to speak. In fact, boldness can often be used interchangeably with confidence when talking about spiritual principles. That’s because, in scripture both words are derived from the very same Greek root word.

Don’t get the wrong idea, though. A lot of us have a distorted concept of what boldness is. Many people think boldness is seeing how loud you can talk and how belligerent you can be. That’s not boldness. That’s flesh. Finally boldness is intricately tied up with the concepts of “yieldedness” and “obedience”.

Their can be no true obedience where there is no confidence. Nor can you yield yourself to someone whom you do not trust.

Is confidence the final piece of the faith puzzle for you? Read on to find out the missing pieces.

 Chapter 2

The Power of Confidence

I’ve heard it a dozen times. “Roweena, I know I have faith, yet my faith does seem to be producing anything.”

If you can identify with that complaint, I’ve got good news for you. There is probably nothing wrong with your faith. You simply be lacking the vital ingredient of confidence.

Confidence is a force that launches your faith, it propels faith forward like Job for example thou he was faced with the most disaster boils, he still had faith he still believed in God and he was blessed. Trying to operate your faith without the force of confidence is like trying to drive your car without any petrol. There’s nothing probably wrong with your car. It’s simply missing a crucial element.

You may say,” But Roweena! I’ve prayed, I confess the scriptures but that does pay my bills and fill my car with petrol.” I want to tell you all children of God, you can quote scriptures until you blue in the face, but if confidence doesn’t rise up and propel your faith, it will never reach it’s destination.

Saying words is not enough. Even acting on those words is not enough. You must have confidence in those words for them to have power to change your circumstances.  Take for example the women with an issue of blood she went to so many doctors, trying to find the cure for her, but they all failed her, but she had confidence and faith that if she touched the hemp of God’s garment she will be healed, and she was healed. That’s having confidence in power to change any circumstances.

Fill Up your Words

Don’t misunderstand. Words are important. But words alone cannot change your circumstances. Simply think of them as spiritual containers. Faith is poured into your words by the force of confidence. Imagine the waves at the ocean or sea, in order for the waves to occur there has to be some force to allow the wave to generate. You see confidence is like that is a force that allows your words to have power, and confidence generates faith into your words and faith-filled words go into action!

The missing link in many believers’ faith life is confidence. We’ve had the faith. We’ve had the corresponding action that must accompany faith. What we’ve lacked is the force of confidence to get the whole process moving.

It’s Not Over ‘Til It’s Over

What does confidence look like. An excellent example can be found in

Habakkuk 3:17-18:

Although the fig three shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in vines; the labor of olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls; yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will find joy in the God of my salvation.

Now here’s a man with confidence. His crops have failed. His livestock is destroyed. Nothing is going right. But what is his response to these dire circumstances? “Yet…” He says” Yet I will rejoice in the Lord…” Why is he so optimistic in the face of incredible adversity? If you read on:

The lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. V1.8.

Children of God, it’s not over until it’s over. And it’s not over until to either win or quit. Like Habakkuk, you’ve got to make sure your confidence isn’t dependant upon your surrounding circumstances.

We all have to get equipped with the basic equipment that we would need for our race. In Hebrews 12:1, says, “Let us run with patience (perseverance) the particular race that God has set before you.”

God sometimes just wants you to strive, to be strong and complete the race he has set for you. Everybody has a race to run as long as they are on this earth. Though you may experience hurdles along the way; you should remember that there is always a prize beyond the race. 2 Timothy 1:12 says because God has called you to proclaim good news, you will suffer these things (hurdles, pain, loss and suffering) but remain confident, that God is with you and if he is with you through your race, you will finish it successfully as a winner. The bible says to remain in the faith and love that are yours in the union with Christ verse 13.

2 Timothy3:1 your hurdles will be difficult to overcome, the easy path will draw you towards it, it will tempt you, but don't look that way, just continue to run your race, without turning back, towards that narrow path.

2 Timothy 3:12 All who choose the narrow path will be persecuted, but you should stand on the truth and what you believe in. 2 Timothy 4:4 thou you face the race of righteousness, you should keep control of yourself in all circumstances and endure suffering. When you face your hurdles God pours out his abundant grace and gives you faith, love 2 Timothy1: 14. God gives you strength 1 Timothy 1:12. The spirit of perseverance that God gives does not make you timid; instead his spirit fills you with power, love and self-control. Let us keep our eyes on Jesus, on whom your faith depends from beginning to end. God did not give up because of the cross; he strived because of the joy that awaited him.

Though people mocked him and rejected him, he remained focused, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross and in the end victory was his. Now he sits on the right hand side of the father. Think of the pain and the suffering he went through, how much he had to put up with, the hatred from sinners but he stilled continued to strive on for that prize. Just like that don't let yourself become discouraged because God has better for you when you finish your race as victorious. Though your knees may tremble from running your race, keep on running that narrow path.

When you finish your race there are victorious prizes awaiting for you 2 Timothy 4:8 that prize is the crown of righteousness, the crown of eternal life. Now can you understand why it is so important for you to finish your race on earth?

You have to experience this race but the Lord, somehow, someway is going to bring you through. You’ve got to make the Lord your confidence.

Chapter 3

Understanding the Force of Confidence

When you fill of confidence, you know that you know that you know that God’s word is going to produce exactly what is says it will. And that’s not only when the circumstances look good. True confidence is fully persuaded no matter what the circumstances look like. How do you develop that kind of confidence? We’ll look at that in detail later. Before you can begin to cultivate that kind of confidence that will move your faith, you must first have greater biblical understanding of what it is and how it works.

Fully Persuaded

And [Abraham] being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able to perform. Romans 4:21

As I mentioned at the outset, you can define confidence as the state of being “fully persuaded.” The above verse points to Abraham as a person of great confidence. You’ll remember that Abraham was 100 years old and his wife Sarah was 90 when the Lord told them, ”I’m going to bless you with a boy and your descendants are going to outnumber the stars.”

Of course, Abraham and Sarah didn’t reach the point of being fully persuaded right away. In fact, when God’s promise seemed a little slow in the coming they decided to help God out.

Sarah arranged for her personal servant, Hagar, to be with Abraham. The result was a son- Ishmael. But that was not what God had promised. The previously barren Sarah was the one who, along with Abraham, would bear a child whose seed would bless all nations of the earth.

That couldn’t happen, however, until Abraham got to the point of being fully persuaded, or in other words, the place of confidence.

Children of God, this is where most of us miss it. We never become fully persuaded that God will do what He has promised in His Word.

We read the promise in scripture, and then timidly tiptoe into a confession or action that is supposed to resemble faith. The problem is that everything we say and do lacks confidence.

It’s like hiring an employee to do the job that he is reluctant to do. It shows up in quality of his work. He may go through the motions but it’s obvious his heart isn’t in it.

Unfortunately, Abraham became absolutely, totally convinced that God was faithful to keep his promise. He reached the point of being fully persuaded. Another way of saying it is ”blessed assurance”.

When you receive blessed assurance, you get an empowerment that only comes from God. It’s a supernatural conviction that what God has promised will indeed come to pass.

It was only when Abraham reached that point that the promise of God could be manifested in the natural realm.

The same is true for you. You’ll never see the miraculous manifestation of God’s promises in your life until you reach the point of being fully persuaded.

Hold On Tight

One you’ve developed confidence in a promise of God, the next thing you must do is hold on to it.

But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning at our confidence steadfast unto the end Hebrews 3:6,14.

If you want to receive the promises of God in your Life, you must hold tightly to your confidence until the end. When is the end? When you have manifestation of the promise in which you place your confidence.

Never let go of your confidence until you’ve reached your miracle. In other words, “It’s not over until it’s over.”

Don’t think for a minute that holding on is going to be easy, however. If you’re standing on a promise from God’s Word, the devil is going to pull out every trick in his bag to try to get you to let go of your confidence. He’ll use well-meaning family members, friends, television and other voices as this disposal to try to shake your faith in God’s promise.

If you believe God for healing, hold fast until your healing manifests. If you trusting God’s will for your future partner, continue to hold on until that the day comes until you say I do. No matter how long it takes, hold on. Notice in verse 14 again”…if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast until the end;”

That tells us confidence has a beginning and an end. Often the beginning of confidence when we sow seeds, if you need health, sow seeds of healing by praying for the sick, if you want to find you partner, sow seeds of love and compassion. And whatever you do, sow seeds in confidence that they will produce a hundredfold. That is how confidence has it’s beginning.

A confident beginning is not “hoping and praying”. You can’t sow seeds “hoping “ that you will see a return. There is no confidence in that.

If God said it, He will do it. He cannot lie. He framed the entire universe with the power and integrity of His Word. If He told a lie, all in existence would disintegrate.

Confidence. Begin every journey of faith with it and hold onto it until the end.

Claiming your Reward

Satan is determined to get you to turn and loose your confidence. Why? Because he hates you and doesn’t want you to receive your reward. That’s right! Confidence always produces a reward.

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. Hebrews 10:35.

Don’t cast away (throw away, toss aside, let go of) your confidence. It’s just that the devil wants you to do. In fact, he knows that if he can destroy your confidence in God’s faithfulness and in His Word, you’re finished. Be on guard. The enemy probably won’t come in and try to wipe your confidence all at one time. Instead, he’ll try to erode it away, a little bit at a time. A little word of discouragement spoken here. A little bad news there. Before long, if you not watchful, you’ll find your confidence collapsing around. Hang on and claim your reward.

Confidence is your Foundation

For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. Proverbs 3:26

Having the Lord as your confidence will keep your foot from stumbling. What is the foot used for? Standing. It supports your stance. In Ephesians 6:13,14 we’re told “…. Having done to stand. Stand…”

When you’re standing immovable upon God’s Word you’re in a position to receive great blessings. The devil will try to move you from your stand. Look at Job, he was a true man of God, thou he was in pain and in agony with the boils, he did not loose his confidence in God, thou Satan used his wife to tell him to curse God and die and try to keep him from standing firm of the promises of God. He did not give up on God he put is confidence in God and he was rewarded and healed. But when you make the Lord your confidence, you can be assured that your foot will remain firm.

Confidence is Your Strength

For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall your strength; Isaiah 30:15

When you’re fighting the good fight of faith, it is crucial that you have sufficient strength for battle.

"If only you carefully listen to the voice of the Lord your God…" (Deuteronomy 15:5, AMP).
All through the day there are two voices that compete for our attention–the voice of faith and the voice of defeat. You'll hear a voice saying, "You'll never rise any higher. You don't have what it takes. You've reached your limit." But if you listen carefully, you'll hear another voice saying, "You are well able. You can do all things through Christ. Your best days are still up ahead." You are the one who gets to choose which voice comes to life by speaking it out of your own mouth. The moment you verbalize that thought, you give it the right to come to pass. When you speak faith, you're in agreement with God. When you speak defeat, you're in agreement with the enemy. God–talk brings God on the scene. Enemy–talk brings the enemy on the scene.
Why don't you get in agreement with God today? That negative voice may be louder, but you can override it. You can take away all of its power by simply choosing the voice of faith. Choose to declare favor, blessing, and increase over your life so that you can walk in the victory the Lord has in store for you.

Spiritual strength can mean the difference between prosperity and poverty, deliverance and oppression, sickness and health, life and death.

How do you gain spiritual strength? According through this verse through confidence!

The strength that comes through confidence will get you into the Word when you think you’re too tired to study. It will get you up for a time of fellowship with God when your flesh would rather stay in bed. It will get you to church to be fed the Word when your busy is demanding to be plopped onto the couch. Confidence is the strength of your faith.

Praying with Confident

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him.1 John 5:14-15 (NIV)

Someone was once saying that a preacher on the radio was saying that we shouldn’t be saying, “If it’s Your will” when we pray because we’re not having confidence in what we’re praying, or something to that effect. I said that it’s Scriptural to say that because of a couple of passages/verses: James 4:5:13
Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” TNIV
1 John 5:14
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. TNIV

However I’ve rethought my reasoning. The James passage isn’t talking about prayer, it’s talking about plans, predicting the future etc. Proverbs 16:9, “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” So while I think it’s Scriptural to say, “I’ll be doing … God willing”, the James passage doesn’t support saying, “If it’s your will” when praying.

The 1 John passage is talking about God answering according to His will, not necessarily how we should pray. Matthew 21:22 says, “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” But this needs to be balanced with 1 John 5:14 as mentioned above.

So when is it appropriate to say, “If it’s Your will?” I’m not trying to teach here. I’m just writing what my thinking is at the moment. Please feel free to comment

If we are praying something that we know is Scriptural, it would almost be disrespectful to add the if. For example–praying for growth in knowledge, wisdom (James 1:5-8) etc. If we are praying for miraculous healing, a certain material item etc. it may be respectful and reverent to say if it’s Your will. Some would say that shows a lack of confidence. I’m not sure if we could judge right or wrong either way.

As far as asking for something we know might or might not be in His will, it’s fine to ask and to be persistent as the parables of the woman in front of the judge and the man knocking on his neighbor’s door asking for food for a guest. If we should know the answer is no, then should we stop asking.

Paul pleaded with God three times for the thorn in his side to be taken away. God gave him a definitive answer, ‘But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”‘ (2 Corinthians 12:9)

We don’t always know what to pray and the Spirit helps us in our weakness (Romans 8:26-27. Thomas Schreiner in his commentary on Romans says that since the totality of God’s will is hidden from us, the Spirit fills this lack by interceding for us. The Spirit searches our hearts which long for God’s will, searches even the depths of God (1 Corinthians 2:10) and intercedes for us according to God’s will with groans that our words can’t express.

I think it’s very important when praying for someone to always pray for things that you know are in God’s will according to Scripture along with any requests they may have or things you think they should have that may or may not be a part of God’s plan. For example if you pray only for healing and that isn’t a part of God’s plan, you’re not really doing them any good. But if you pray for comfort, perseverance, hope, strength etc. along with healing, you know you will be participating in glorifying God in their situation whatever the outcome.

Prayer doesn’t accomplish much until it’s energized by the force of confidence. There is nothing quite as powerful as a prayer that you know in your knower is going to come to pass. How does that kind of faith come about?

First, through confidence that God hears you when you pray. That’s where you start. “I know that when I pray, God hears me.”

Then you have to be confident that you’re praying in accordance with the will of God. How do you do that. By praying the Word. God’s Word is His will.

Find a promise in God’s Word that speaks to your particular situation. Then pray is and stand on it. “I know that I’m praying God’s will because I’m praying His Word.”

Following those two steps comes the confidence that you have for which you pray. When you pray with confidence, things happen.

Chapter 4

Developing Confidence

So far, we’ve seen that confidence is the missing link in the chain of faith-the force that launches your faith into motion. It’s the trigger that enables your faith to work the same way every time.

That’s important because God wants you to know exactly how to get your healing, your bills paid, or whatever it is you need and get them every time.

Once you understand the role of confidence, there is no reason to continue to live your Christian life in frustration and defeat.

“I’m convince Sister Chetty! I want confidence. But how do I get it?” That’s a fair question and we’ll find the answers in the Word of God.

Let’s look at some spiritual conditions and steps to developing the force of confidence.

A Heart That Is True

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies’ washes with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering (for he is faithful that promised;)Hebrews 10:22,23

If you want to deal with God and his Word with full assurance (another term for confidence), you must first have a “true heart”.

Don’t go to God with a bunch of lies and manipulation. Go to Him with a true heart. If you’ve made mistakes, if you have sinned, admit it. God wants the truth no matter how ugly it is.

When you come to God and say” Lord, I have sinned today”, you’re operating a true heart. The level of honesty and transparency is a beautiful thing to God. The result? You are able to draw near to him with confidence “in full assurance on faith.”

What is full assurance of faith? Confidence in the Word. Confidence in God’s goodness. Confidence in God’s mercy and grace to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Confidence in your position in Christ Jesus. Confidence in the faith life. A true heart is a prerequisite to that kind of confidence.

In whatever our hearts in [tormenting] self- accusation make us feel guilty and condemn us. For [we are in God’s hands]; he is above and greater that our conscience (our hearts), and he knows (perceives and understands) everything- nothing is hidden from Him.

And, beloved, if our conscience (our hearts) do not accuse us- if they do not make us feel guilty and condemn us-we have CONFIDENCE (complete assurance and boldness) before God, And we receive from Him whatever we ask… 1 John 3:20-22a (AMP)

What other people know about you is not as important as what you and God know about yourself. When you know that there is sin in your life and your heart is accusing you and making you feel guilty and condemn, it becomes very difficult to have confidence in God answering your prayer.

Keeping your heart intact is extremely important if you are to have confidence towards God.

“,,,We have Confidence before God, And we receive from Him whatever we ask….”

Conceive Your Miracle

Are you beginning to gasp the relationship between confidence and faith? Do you see why it’s pointless to confess, “by his strips I am healed” when you have no confidence in those words? Your words are only empty containers. It takes both confidence and faith to produce results in your life.

One day as I was meditating on the correlation between faith and confidence, the Spirit of God spoke to me and said,” They are mating.” This surprised me at first but the more I thought about it the more I understood the truth of what he was saying.

A woman can’t have a baby alone. Nor can a man have one without a woman. It takes both to create offspring’s. The same is true with faith and confidence. When they come together, the thing that you believing God for is conceived. Hold on to that confidence long enough and it will be birthed. At the point you’ll see the physical man infestation of that which was conceived in the spirit your miracle.

The Tradition Trap

As we have seen, the Word of God is a powerful thing. Yet there is something that can stop it from operating effectively for you-tradition. Specially, religious tradition.

Jesus once told a religious crowd that their traditions had rendered the Word of God of no effect (Mark 7:13). Many believers have been taught through the religious traditions of various denominations that God doesn’t work wonders anymore. “The age of miracles has passed,” we’re told. As a result they have no confidence in God’s promises of miraculous deliverance, healing and provision. Yet they have no confidence that what they’ve seen can ever be part of their own lives. They simply go through the motions without ever seeing and real results.

This reinforces the lack of confidence. It’s a downward cycle of despair and frustration.

But praise God; the cycle works the other way too! One day you hear the Word of God and really begin to understand it. Confidence and faith begin to rise up in your spirit. You step out and believe God for a little miracle. Perhaps you need some food. And by faith you receive a hamburger.

Then later, when you need a bill paid and there’s no money left, you remember how the Word worked when you needed a meal. More faith and confidence rise up within you. Together they go to work and your need is miraculously met. It’s an upward cycle of ever-increasing faith, confidence and power.

Expect Opposition

Operating in Confidence does not mean that you will not encounter adversity.

But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as we know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.1 Thessalonians 2:2.

If you plan to reap the rewards of walking in confidence and boldness (remember: the two are synonymous), you’d better get ready for some contention.

Just as with Paul, controversy, contention and opposition tend to follow a person of true boldness. Therefore it’s vital that you learn how to hold on to your confidence in the midst of such resistance.

The three Hebrew boys Nebuchadnezzar threw into the fiery furnace are a great example of confidence under pressure. Their response to his death threat was:

If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. Daniel 3:17.

Can you hear their confidence? ”We don’t care what you do to us. We are not going to bow down and worship your idols. We are fully persuaded that our God is able to deliver us!”

Daniel is another great example. His boldness in prayer caused contention. As a result he ended up in a dungeon full of hungry lions.

If most of us found ourselves in those circumstances we’d be lunch! But Daniel’s quiet confidence put his faith in motion. Faith brought angels on the scene to shut the watering mouths of those lions.

Why does contention always follow believers. Because it is designed by Satan to destroy their confidence. He knows that if he can take away your calm assurance through trouble, strife and opposition, then your faith will lose the jets that put it into flight.

Hold on to your confidence in the face of contention. If you do, you will come out on top just surely as Paul, Daniel and those three Hebrew boys did.

Chapter 5

You Can Walk in Confidence

Confidence, the kind of boldness that puts faith into motion, is really not a complicated thing to develop. You don’t need a lot of degrees or education. You don’t have to be extremely intelligent, sophisticated or refined.

No matter who you are, you can have mountain-moving confidence. How? You can get it the same way a couple of simple fisherman from Galilee did:

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13

Peter and John had boldness you could not only hear but see! How you get confidence like that? Spend time with Jesus. Spend time with him in prayer. Fellowship with him in worship. Get to know Him in His Word.

Show me a person who is fully persuaded and I’ll show you a person that has been with Jesus

Ask And You Shall Receive

Ultimately, the most powerful key to developing confidence is the most simple of them all. Ask for it.

And now, Lord, behold their threatening: and grant unto thy servants, that with boldness they may speak thy word,… And when they [the disciples] had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:29,31

When the New Testament church was faced with opposition and treats, they came together and prayed for boldness. They prayed and they were filled. It’s a simple as that.

Children of God, nothing produces confidence in you like being filled with the Holy Ghost. And the Holy Ghost is yours for the asking.

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Luke 11:13

You don’t ever have to be without the force of confidence again. Imagine never again praying without knowing that your prayer was heard and answered. Never again laying hands on someone without knowing that power would flow out of you and touch that person’s body. Never tithing or giving without knowing that you were going to receive back hundredfold return. All that and much more is possible when you unleash the force of confidence and join it to your faith.

FACING YOUR CHALLENGE WITH CONFIDENCE

Many of us wonder sometimes why God seems so distant or far away? We often pray, but God does not hear us. We then feel depressed and down, our heart then begins to loose faith and trust in God. Sometimes we even loose our faith. It happens to all. It also happened to me.
Everyday I got up prayed and continued with my daily routine, trusting in God for my answers. It continued like this everyday and the Lord spoke to me and used his word to lead and teach me. This went on for a month. Then on the 23 February 2005, I hit rock bottom.

I don't now what had come over me but I felt like giving up, I felt as if my world has come to an end, as if my heart was broken into pieces. I didn't know where this strange feeling came from but I tried to sing and pray but my tongue was tied. I could not talk, I tried with the last strength I had and still couldn't utter a word. I then lost courage, but I trusted in God, I felt miserable and sick at heart, just like Lementations 1:20-22 it says” Look, O Lord, at my agony at the anguish of my soul. My heart is broken in sorrow for my sins. Listen to my groans, there is no one to hear me or comfort me. My enemies are glad that you brought disaster on me. I groan in misery and am sick at heart."

I finally gave up and decided to be quiet and listen to God speaking to me. This continued for about half an hour, then I heard a voice saying, sometimes God test our faith, he test us by being distant and not responding to our prayers. In James 1:2-4 it says, " You face trails of many kind, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance and perseverance must finish it's work so that you may be mature and complete not lacking anything."
We should try everything in our power to make God listen to us, but we feel sometimes he is not listening, or he has forgotten us. At this point you think God has forsaken you, abandoned you, left you to suffer the pain and the agony, which you are experiencing. That's how I felt, I felt like God had left me to suffer alone. In Colossians 2:2 says, " I do this in order that you are filled with courage."

Then a voice suddenly spoke to me saying my child I am always with you Hebrews 13: 5 I never abandoned you or left you, I choose to be distant to test your faith. I choose not to answer you because I wanted to see if you would still seek my face and persevere. If I took everything away from you, your bible, your ability to read and write, to understand, would you still praise me and persevere?
I thought, Lord if I don't have words to speak to you, or express my feelings how would you ever know, how I felt? Then the Lord said," I put words in your mouth just like I did for Jeremiah; I would give you words to praise me.

My tongue was still tied but I used my hands and continued to worship God, it continued for half an hour and then the Lord spoke to me. I am always with you even in your lowest point of your life and in your highest point. Psalms 9:10, " I never left " you but I choose to test you, don't worry; we all have to go through a test at some point in our live.

I was stunned; I did not know what to do. Then the Lord said to me, " I tied your tongue so you could not speak to me what was in you heart, but you still persevered. You used your hands, legs and body to show me what you were feeling. You will never experience me if you don't hit rock bottom and come back up.

Sometimes God brings tribulations upon us to take us to the next level of understanding. In 2 Thessalonians 3:5 it says, " The Lord leads you into a greater understanding of God's love and endurance." I then realized that God had never left my side, but he choose to watch my faith in action.

God even opened my mouth at that very moment and began to give me words to praise him; he gave me a song to sing to bring glory to his name. I did not understand at that point but I trusted in God and believed in him and because of my perseverance through my testing, God enabled me to compose a song to edify his name.
I just couldn't stop praising his name. I tried to stop, but I couldn't as me heart was filled with joy, that came from the Lord. The pain and suffering, loneliness and depression, I had felt just disappeared and I felt renewed in my spirit.

He healed my broken heart and took me to a new level of faith in him. I never felt anything like this in my entire life; he gave me the ability and boldness to communicate with him openly. To speak to him as if I was speaking to a person right next to me as I felt his presence.

I then questioned God why, Lord did you have to test my faith like this? I had to have a valley experience in order for my faith to be tested. God took me to a new level. I found perfect peace that day, as in order for me to feel his presence, I had to still be in his presence and seek him with all my heart, soul and strength. Then I looked up and saw a person smiling at me. He said never would I leave you nor forsake you.
Experiencing God in a dynamic way by laying all your burdens down at his feet. Psalms 46: 1 "God is your shelter and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
So when you feel like what and me I went through, just remember that after every storm there is a rainbow. God is your true and dearest friend. So when you feel discouraged and all alone, trust God completely. Your breakthrough is on the way.
MY GOD IS SO STRONG, JUST BELIEVE AND YOU WILL SEE, MY GOD IS SO STRONG, HE CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE!
Be encouraged in his word. Psalms 81: 6. I am praying for you, smile cause Jesus loves you.
Thank God for your valley experience, he will surely bring you to the mountaintop. It may not be easy, but remember with God all things are possible. You will come out refined as gold from the furnace.
